Get to Know Tim, Our Machine Shop Manager

A Day in the Life

Tim’s day begins early, often before the sun rises, as he gears up to ensure the seamless continuation of operations from the night before. “Every day starts by prepping shipments completed by our second shift,” Tim shares. This initial task is vital as it sets the tone for the day, ensuring that completed orders are ready for dispatch and that any issues from the previous night are promptly addressed.

One of Tim’s core practices is maintaining a personal connection with his team. “I make it a point to greet all my team members,” he says. This simple yet impactful gesture fosters a positive work environment, promoting camaraderie and team spirit. Following this, Tim delves into the technical aspects of his role: “I double-check our production numbers and priorities.” Accuracy in these numbers is crucial, as they guide the day’s workflow and ensure that production targets are met.

The Importance of Communication

In the dynamic environment of a machine shop, clear and constant communication is paramount. Tim emphasizes the continuous dialogue within his team: “Our team is constantly communicating about when we will be receiving and delivering parts.” This constant flow of information helps in synchronizing efforts and aligning everyone’s actions towards common goals.

Certain projects require more than just routine updates; they demand analysis. “Some pieces require in-depth discussion, so we’ll meet to ensure the entire team is on the same page,” Tim explains. These meetings are critical for addressing complex tasks, troubleshooting potential issues, and ensuring that every team member understands their role in achieving the desired outcome.

If Your Workday Was a Song

Tim’s analogy for his workday is both humorous and insightful. “It’d be the theme to Jaws,” he quips. In manufacturing, unpredictability is a constant companion. “In manufacturing, there is usually something that doesn’t go according to plan. You know it’s coming, you just don’t know when.” This perspective highlights Tim’s resilience and preparedness. His ability to anticipate and swiftly address unforeseen challenges is a testament to his leadership and expertise.

The Role of the Machine Shop in Our Success

Under Tim’s management, our machine shop not only meets production demands but consistently exceeds quality standards. The precision in CNC turning and milling ensures that every piece fits perfectly within the larger assembly, maintaining the integrity and functionality of our products.
